Christine Pedley was born in New Zealand but has lived in Melbourne, Australia, permanently since 1976. She wanted to be an early childhood teacher when she was at school, but after many years figuring out what she was passionate about she became a social worker. She worked initially in the family violence field, later transitioning to palliative care. She is now a wedding/funeral celebrant and a death doula. Her passion was to increase death literacy within the community through workshops and community speaking.

Christine lives at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges with her much loved partner, Perry. She loves to spend time in her garden with the many birds who also call it home.

Her life was turned upside down and inside out when her youngest son unexpectedly took his own life in 2022. Purpose and direction were difficult in the hard times that followed, but Christine is journeying towards an exciting future that focuses on supporting and mentoring those reaching out for more information about death, dying and bereavement. She is an advocate for building compassionate support systems for those who are grieving.
Facing the Unfathomable is Christine’s first book. It was written in the hope that it reaches those who are facing similar experiences.
